Clever ideas to bring summer vibes into your home

If you didn’t start already thinking about summer, than now it’s absolutely time to do so! There are certain colors, objects or textures that automatically make you think about the summer and that help you introduce the holiday atmosphere you encounter at the beautiful beach resorts right in your own home. So here are some simple ideas that can help you upgrade your home for the summer.

White curtains

White curtains are not only for windows, but also for outdoors. If you have a porch, it’s the easiest way to decorate it. Some white linen curtains bring back the feeling of a cocktail bar on the beach, while providing some shade during hot days and some intimacy while you entertain guests or just sit back and relax with a cold drink nearby.

Unique flower pots

Summer is the season of flowers. We advise you to take full advantage of their colors. Decorate the entire yard or a fence with colored flower pots. Use metal paint boxes and paint them in your favorite colors. Plant flowers of small size in colors that will complement the color of the pot. You can do the same thing on the balcony wall. You will have a small, cozy terrace for relaxing moments.

Use shells as decorations

Have you been on a beach vacation and couldn’t help but gather all the shells on the beach? If by now you were storing them somewhere in the house and watching them collect dust, we’ll give you an idea to make something creative with them. Make some wind chimes for the porch or balcony and enjoy the melodious sounds of the shells whenever the wind blows. You need a string, a colored thread and a piece of malleable wire, but at the same time the durable enough for the circle that supports the shells. Carefully drill the shells or stick the string on their inner side and bind them around the circle. Use uneven pieces of string. For a rustic look, wrap some string in various colors around the twine and the wire.  You can also use the shells to create some simple, yet unique decorations for your home, by arranging them in large glass jars or a vase, adding some sand, colored beads, glitter or whatever you think would look good.

Furniture with plant accents

Refresh the look of a cabinet by coloring the interior with floral patterns. Use wallpaper or stickers in a color to compliment the color of the furniture that you refurbish. White furniture will be highlighted by a white background sticker, regardless of the color of the plant pattern. Find the hue and pattern that will fit harmoniously into the design of the room.

Set up a cocktail bar

If you haven’t already installed a bar into your home, because you don’t have enough space or you simply don’t like the idea of having one, think about improvising one for some laid-back summer parties with your friends. Just clear out a small table where you set up everything you need: glasses, trays, some limes or other fruit and of course, your favorite beverages.

Reorganize your kitchen shelves

There’s no better way to get ready for the summer than to get rid of the clutter that covers your kitchen shelves. Get rid of things that you no longer need or you don’t reach that much by putting them away into boxes that you store in the pantry or in kitchen cabinets. Add some nice decorative items such as mugs or glasses with summery motifs.

Use nautical stripes to decorate your home

Nothing says summer as much as some nice nautical stripes. The blue and white theme is easy to incorporate into almost any style. Throw some pillows on the living room couch or on the chairs you have on the porch, change the rug in the bathroom or add a striped blanket for those chilly nights when you feel like you need something to cover up. You can also replace the bathroom towels with some beach towels that will make you feel like you’re taking a bath into the ocean).

Embrace the coastal style

You don’t have to live by the sea to get a coastal look for your home. Think about bold stripes, crisp linens and a color scheme that includes neutral colors, white hues, blue, black and charcoal. Also, some unfinished wood accessories will help recreate the look of a chic and cozy beach house.
